Pilos
Pilos is the largest town in the region, where most of the region official and governmental services are located, like Forest Office, Tax Office, Customs, Notary's etc. The Medical Centre of Pilos is providing emergency medical care for the surrounding area.
The central square of Pilos, with it's two huge perennial plane trees and many terraces, is the local place to meet and see each other. Around the square there are many shops located, were most of the daily goods can be found.
Numerous restaurants are scattered around the Pilos harbour as well as a diving school and boat charters for daily trips.
A few kilometres outside Pilos there is a luxurious hotel and golf complex under construction, of which the first phase is planned to be finished in 2009.
Around the Pilos area, there are a few traditional small villages situated with some beautiful old stone houses. Some of these old stone houses are fully renovated up to todays standard and some of them need to be renovated for those who like to enjoy the authentic atmosphere and country lifestyle.
