Six Ecological Stone Houses in Methoni

 

 

In Methoni of Messinia, on the site of Tapia, a cluster of six detached houses, within 800 m from the sea and with a view of the Venetian castle of Methoni and the Ionian Sea, is under construction. The houses, 100-150 m2 each, are made of stone, having a free space of 800m2 each and with the possibility of constructing a swimming pool.

Bioclimatic methods have been applied to the construction of the houses. The specialized study has been drawn in the office of Mr Aristidis Vrynas, a civil engineer of N.T.U.A, and has been carried out by Nik. Kastanis Firm of Constructors, which guarantees for the excellent carrying out of the pioneer work.
                  

The new methods that have been applied are: Use of non-radioactive materials. Application of specifications for the heating and the ventilation of the buildings, with the exploitation of solar power Special grounding of the foundations for anti lightning protection and covering of the roofs with special membranes against electromagnetic radiation. Full heat insulation of the buildings with mineral, non-cancerigenic, materials.

Each villa measures 150 m2 -in 600-900 m2 plot- and is developed in three levels. Ground floor includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, a dining room and two storage rooms. First floor consists of a kitchen, a sitting room with the fireplace, a WC and a big veranda with a fantastic view of the Venetian castle of Methoni, the Ionian sea and Sapientza island. Second floor includes two more bedrooms, a bathroom and a covered by a pergola veranda. Outside there are a barbecue place and a ready landscape gardening. Price: 350.000 € (each Villa)
